MMS 2012 here we come…

Friday morning I’m leaving for the Microsoft Management Summit 2012 (MMS) in Las Vegas. This is one of the biggest Management events in world for IT Pro’s. At MMS some of the most skilled IT Professionals from around the world meet to increase their technical expertise through deep hands-on technical training, sharing of best practices and interaction with innovators and pioneers in desktop and device management, datacenter, and cloud technologies.

As a Configuration Manager MVP, I’ve been looking forward to this event for past 3 or 4 years. Later this year all System Center 2012 products will be released, SQL Server 2012 is already available and Windows 8 will follow later this year. It’s really exciting.

This year my main focus will be on System Center 2012 Configuration Manager, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2012 (MDT), PowerShell and Windows Intune. Hopefully I’ll also get time to see a session or two about the next release of System Center 2012 Service Manager. If not, you’ll be able to view any breakout sessions you may have missed within 48 hours of the live presentation. Awesome!

System Center Updates Publisher 2011 has released!

I’m happy to announce that we have released System Center Updates Publisher 2011 to the web today. This release was primarily driven by customer feedback over the past year. It all started last year at MMS (2010) where we got a lot of great feedback regarding the existing product. Out of that feedback a plan was created to greatly improve the product for both customers and partners. Updates Publisher 2011 is packed full of new features and additions with just a few of them listed below.

New in System Center Updates Publisher 2011

Simpler setup with no database installation

An improved user interface that allows better control of managing software updates

Improved applicability rule authoring experience

Improved performance when importing and managing software updates

The ability to create software update bundles

The ability to define prerequisite and superseded updates as part of a software update definition

A new “Automatic” publication type with which Updates Publisher 2011 can query Configuration Manager to determine whether the selected software updates should be published with full content or only metadata

A new Software Update Cleanup Wizard that you can use to expire software updates that exist on the update server, but are not in the Updates Publisher 2011 repository

SCUG.dk User Group Meeting, April 2011

Friday the System Center User Group Denmark hosted a System Center focused event held in Copenhagen.

The main goal for this event, was to show some of the most important news and updates from the Microsoft Management Summit 2011 in Las Vegas, to User Group Members that didn’t attend MMS.

The event was very popular and we’ve received lots of great feedback. Around 65 user group members showed up for this full event day.

MMS 2011 BIRDS-OF-A-FEATHER System Center Custom Updates Publisher

It’s only a month until this year MMS 2011 kicks off. I personally think it’s an awesome schedule this year, lots of very great speakers, hands on labs and BOF sessions. I have just submitted a BOF session with Jason Lewis. Jason is a program manager for Configuration Manager at Microsoft. The session will focus on System Center Custom Updates Publisher 2011 and version 4.5

The usage of SCUP is increasing and there is huge demand for knowledge on how to use the product correctly. This BOF will give you information about lessons learned from the field including tips and tricks. Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 RTM Now Available

Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010, the next version of Forefront Client Security, is now RTM. Download is expected be available from the volume License site (VLCS) on December 29th.

Forefront Endpoint Protection builds on System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2 and R3, allowing customers to use their existing client management infrastructure to deploy and maintain endpoint protection.

SCUP Catalog Deployments for Acrobat and Reader X

With the release of Acrobat and Reader X, managing updates and patches is easy. Adobe will soon supply a System Center Updates Publisher (SCUP) catalog so that administrators may more easily deploy and manage Acrobat and Reader X clients across the enterprise.
